Inspired by a Facebook conversation with another Michigan guitar friend... based on our memories of our father's.

I remember when I was about 5 years old. Down at the local hardware store in Rantoul, IL was a massive kite with a Spaceman on it. I wanted that KITE so much... I beg my father to get for me and he did! As soon as we got home, the kite was assembled and in no time we were in the backyard of our home watching the kite soar into the sky. I'll never forget that image... but sadly, since the kite was so big... a gust of wind broke the line that connected us to the kite and just like that, my spaceman kite was gone!

Imagine for a moment, the tears of a little boy... and the heartbreak of a father. My dad grabbed a newspaper, some glue, string and some wood and proceeded to make a home made kite. I remember being seated on the kitchen table... watching with wide eyed wonder as my dad built a kite from basically nothing. We soon grabbed another sheet, ripped it up... made a tale, connected it to the kite and off were into the back yard once again!

We sat together as the kite danced upon the wind... and it was then my dad began to speak words I will never forget... "Ken, you were made to soar!" "You were made to dance upon the wind!" "You can accomplish whatever you want in life... the sky is the limit."

What I have learned from this memory is... we all were created to soar! We all were created for great things... and maybe you might feel as though you aren't good enough for anything, but something that is seemingly useless... in this case, a newspaper, you read it, then crumple it up and throw it away... or use in a bird cage for, uhhhhh droppings. What some might think is trash... was actually created to SOAR!

Don't let anyone, or anything... or other peoples opinions keep you from your destiny... YOU WERE CREATED TO SOAR! The sky is... the limit!
