About a week before moving to Michigan... late one evening, I went out into our empty garage... sat down by the door that enters into our backyard and spent some time thinking about the years and memories we've had at this house. My heart wept at the thought of leaving a house that we spent 22 years in and in all honesty, I am not sure I will ever get over that... but I knew we had to get to Michigan for Jill's mom. There was no debating that... it was ordained. Jill's mom needed us! But... it still hurt to leave... really... really hurt...

That night I wrote a simple song...

I was searching for some measure of hope... something I can hold onto that assured my weeping heart. As Jill slept... I played this song, over... and over... and over... in that empty garage...

The hope I found in this simple song were the words that rose up in my heart... there is hope, it's a new beginning... and that's something to embrace...
